Chapter one…An Occasion
“Ms. Kamatori…..Ms. Kamatori!”……
“Aliah Kamatori!!!”
“Hmm?”
“I am sorry I am interrupting your nap time Ms. Kamatori but if you don’t mind answering the question proposed to you that would just make my day.” Mr. Hakam said, his high pitched squeal drove needled through her sensitive eardrum
“What class are we in again?” she asked, still half asleep.
Mr. Hakam’s rat-like face twisted in rage. “History Ms. Kamatori, I do not comprehend the reason you can get immaculate grades on your tests when you rarely pay attention you your own self”
Aliah smirked, sitting up now. The whole class was paying attention now, stifling giggles and little “oooh’s”
“You hardly ‘comprehend’ much.” She said chuckling.
The whole class roared with laughter. Mr. Hakam had started to puff up, about to rant and rave about her behavior when the bell rang, cutting him off at the starting breath.
“Have a good weekend Mr. Hakam.” Aliah said. Her voice was sickly sweet. She walked out of the classroom and joined the mob of teenagers. What a wonderful birthday she was having already. It wasn’t any different from every day she was on this planet. Every day she went to school, hell, every day she stepped out of her loft she hated the human race. Liars, cheaters, murderers, rapists, molesters, thieves; the whole world was full of the parasite humans were. Sure there was a choice few, which she could trust; people like Aliah herself, which hated them as much as she did.
She saw them grouped around her locker now. She loved her friends to death. Jak was the first one she met. She had boy short fiery red hair and sharp green eyes, she was strong willed and as stubborn as an ox. Shiva was a short, very soft spoken girl. It took Aliah a long time to get used to her. She had brown hair and auburn eyes that matched that of a doe. Raive was a tall, muscular guy. He had short spiky white blonde hair and silver eyes. He was as close as Aliah ever had to a brother. He had been together with Jak for over three years now. And then there was Auran, Very possibly the most gorgeous man on the planet. He had shaggy black hair that fell over his sharp ice blue eyes that always seemed to be focused on her. The smirk that curved his lips, only made his slender face more gorgeous. He was about 6’ 7” and thick, about as intimidating as they get. Aliah was head over heels for him. Aliah herself was a picture of beauty and grace, even though she never saw herself that way. She stood at five and a half feet; blue black curls fell below her waist, and gray blue eyes hidden behind long lashes.
Aliah approached her friends and her locker with caution, everyone looked impossibly eager, all except Auran. She hastily spun the code into her lock and opened her locker.
“Ok,” Aliah said after a moment of staring, “what am I missing?”
“We need you to come to Auran’s around four.” Jak said, her voice seemed to be hiding something.
“Why?” Aliah asked warily, tossing her bag into her locker and closing it.
Shiva giggled and Jak swung a hand back over the side of her head. “You’ll see.” She said, and yanked Shiva and Raive off. Auran lingered for a moment.
“Please tell me you’re not in on this too.” Aliah asked.
The edge of his lip quirked up in a half smile, making her heart beat faster. He was beautiful. Without a word he followed the others.

A hour later Aliah stood in the shower, letting the boiling hot water run over her. She really hoped her friends weren’t doing what she thought they were. She absolutely hated this time of year, that dreadful day that marked another year of existence on this disgusting hunk of rock they called a sorry excuse of a planet.
She got out of her shower and wrapped a towel around her body, sighing to herself. She went to the mirror to wipe the fog from it, only to scream at what joined her reflection. A sharp, black eyed face was next to hers thin lips smirking at her shocked reaction. Darcia smoothed his short black hair back and chuckled darkly.
“why the fuck do you insist on sneaking up on me like that you frikkin ninja?!” Aliah growled angrily, drawing the towel tighter around her.
“its so entertaining.” He said, placing a hand on her neck, running it down her back to where the towel rested. Aliah said nothing, if she gave him no reaction, he would just leave. “happy birthday , love” he said softly.
“you’re an ass you know that?” she said softly, acting as nonchalant as if it were comfortable. She ringed out her hair over the sink. Darcia was the first friend she had when she moved to Haven. She had no idea what kind of person he really was under the attractive, kind looking exterior. She had never been around people before, not until 8th grade. Had never known the cruelty of humanity. Oh, but he had shown her, he was more than happy to show her just how cruel humans could be.
But she couldn’t think of that now, with him here to see her weakness.
She heard a dark chuckle as her window creaked. “see you tonight” his voice had warning in it as it faded out the window.
“I hate you” she whispered into the mirror. She went out of the bathroom to dress and head to whatever Jak and her friends had planned for her.

Aliah walked warily up to Auran’s door, his house was practically a mansion, tucked away on the wooded outskirts of Haven. It was three stories tall, a gorgeous old Victorian house. Thousands of times her friends and she had sat on the vast wraparound porch, laughing and talking about everything. She knocked softly on the door, afraid to see what was inside. She heard muffled voices and low murmurs inside. It sounded as if there were at least fifty people here. She took a deep breath and braced herself as the door opened.
“SURPRISE!!!” the screams of a mob of teenagers echoed throughout the house. Aliah covered her delicate ears, wincing at the sudden ear shattering noise.
